Comfort Maximized From New Plants to Furnace Service

December 11, 2015

With cooler temperatures settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunshine, it can be difficult to always feel like your home is a cozy place to be. That extends far beyond having annual furnace service too, because there are numerous things you can do to help make your home feel comfy even when your furnace is running at its best.

Here are four that we find very helpful here in Columbus:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, can mean quite a bit of air is leaving your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside also. There are various options that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are relatively simple fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Change your furnace filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only increase your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s normally recommended to swap your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some could last even longer.
  • Get plants. Indoor plants can provide a number of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they can potentially improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a number of pollutants that are emitted from a variety of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already taking care of, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having furnace service performed annually helps you make certain that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 614-451-0846 to learn more about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
